There is nothing you want to do less than putting a Getrag 280 in your car.

They are very expensive, they tend to blow through syncrhos (and become quirky), and no one will work on them except this Blanton guy (he'll rebuild you one for ~2k).

Infact, no one is really even equipped to work on them. (you need like 10-15 tons to pull 5th gear off the thing is what i've read).

I've often wondered "what other transmission can i put in my M5 ?" Noone _Ever_ asks "can i put an M5 transmission in my car". You just dont want to do it :)


I have a H5s engine from hartge in my 535is, I want to get a custom chip and probaly the 3.91 lsd diff. My question was that If I put this tranny in my car, are there any prblems I should expect, how much do they cost and where can I find one?
