I have 60,000 miles on '88M5. Have front end shimmy at about 60-65mph with definite pulsating when braking at higher speeds. My shop says front end is fine but rotors are warped. I drive car about 3M per year. Do I really need 7 series rotors or will stock set do ok? If 7 series rotors are used which brake pads do I use? Thanks for any help for this tech challenged owner!

The E-24 & E28 ///M cars have problems with the small rear brakes and upper control arm bushing.
The rear brake are 284x10mm rotors and small rear caliper, 35mm piston. The stock M5 & M6 have the brakes biased too much in the front and that caused excess front rotor heat and warping. The E-34, M5 has the same rotor design as the M5/M6, 300x30mm rotor and the E-34, M5, 315x28mm rotor don't warp because the bias is better. Install the E-34, M5/540, 300x20mm rear rotor and caliper w/40mm piston with the Jurid M5 rear pads and your set. I would not install the complete 750 front brake set because the 750 floating front caliper will increase the front brake bias(a bad thing) and installing the 302x28mm 750 rotor with the stock 4 piston caliper is like installing warn out rotors on your //M car(a cluge fix at best). If you need new rotors buy the OE 300x30mm rotor. I put over 40K miles on the front stock 300x30mm rotors on my M6 with the E-34, M5 rear brake upgrade and the stock front rotor and pads were in almost new condition when I did the Euro big brake upgrade!! Ask around!! the rear upgrade is the ticket!!

Also, change the front upper control arm bushings to the modified E-32, 750's and that will be the end of suspension induced shimmy.

The Ultimate Garage sell the rear 540 brake kit and modified E-32, 750 bushings.
