Hi, Ted.

Keep it original! Have the seats re-upholstered. But, then, I'm a purist. Another user on this board had his seats professionally re-upholstered. You can check out his new interior at the URL below. When I first looked at it, I thought the seats had been done in white leather. Anyway, I asked him about the work he had done and here's what he had to say:

Actually, the flash distorts the coloring. the leather matches the original "nature" (the back seat is original and looks never to have been sat upon) and is cut from the factory patterns utilizing the same leather supplier to BMW. I believe the importer is out of LA, a quality shop will know of them I had a local shop in NY that restores Ferraris and vintage euro autos do the work. the tab was about 1800.00 for the front seats, leather, new padding RR etc -the heater elements make this a relatively difficult task they are somewhat delicate and if broken will be costly to replace.

good luck

peter

I have a 1988 M5 with the stock front seats that are in desperate need of repair. Both need to be completely recovered. My M5 has many aftermarket parts, so keeking it stock is not a big issue. Should I recover the front seats or replace them with some type of aftermarket sport seats?

Will it be hard to match the faded leather on the back seats?

Will the car be harder to sell with sport seats?

Has anyone done the modification in their M5s.

Thanks in advance,

Ted Merendino
