Ted!
Well here is my take and since I have seen your car in person and you have told me what the car has I would go with some after market Recaro or other brand seats. You can keep the original and store them if you ever want to go back. But I saw your car again at Sears Point on Sunday and it looks killer and throwing in some race seats will just make it look all the better. If you had a stock M5 then yes get them redone but your car is far from stock and I think it will just complete the look. That's just my opinion...

I have a 1988 M5 with the stock front seats that are in desperate need of repair. Both need to be completely recovered. My M5 has many aftermarket parts, so keeking it stock is not a big issue. Should I recover the front seats or replace them with some type of aftermarket sport seats?
Will it be hard to match the faded leather on the back seats?
Will the car be harder to sell with sport seats?
Has anyone done the modification in their M5s.
Thanks in advance,
