New to board and have question. I am considering buying an '88 M5 that is located in Canada. I have never bought anything from Canada much less a car. Does anyone have experience importing a vehicle from Canada to the states and can share information with me such as clearing customs and tax info. Anything would be great...thanks, Greg

Go to the link below to find out the rules on importing from Canada.

The trick is actually getting BMW NA to send you a letter stating the Canadian car meets US EPA/DOT specs.... then it is an easy feat. Notify customs and provide the proper paperwork.

If you can't get the letter from BMW NA (which I've heard is hard to do) then be prepared to pay for RI conversion costs ($2-4K+) to get the M5 in the US.

Good luck!

WH
