My wife's `88 E28 M5 came with flat-black tips with rolled outlet ends when we bought it from the OE in 1992, with 50,000 mi. on it. One of them still likes to slide forward most of the time, but never can be pulled off, towards the rear.

My Bronzit `88 E-24 M6 however had no tips on it when I got it 8/14/2000: The dealer I bought it from over the Internet in Ohio had to replace the muffler before I would accept delivery, but didn't include the tips. I researched it & found the correct chrome ones from Maximillian ($43/ea.), which has tapered outlet ends.

I hope this info. helps. I have no info. on a source for the correct flat-black tips, but give Maximillian ^ Haygood a shot @ it, OK?
