'86 M6 engine noise at 2500 RPM ? (archive)

Noticed a noise today which I thought was an exhaust shield resonating at about 2500 RPM, except it sounds more like a timing chain problem in the front of the motor. Pulled all belts, no change, clutch in no change, ballancer tight. As you revit from 2200 to 2600 or so the vibrating noise resonates from the front of the motor.Any Ideas ? Thanks Jeff.
