I currently run 225/50-16 Yoko A032s on BBS RS wheels. What's the largest tire and wheel that I can fit and is bigger always better for the track? I heard from someone once that one can fit 245s all around and that 265s may be possible on the rear. I have also thought of getting the lightest wheel possible and have heard about the SSR Competition. Any thoughts on this or other options? Does SSR come with the correct offset?

Matt from Curry's Auto in Chantilly, VA uses Hoosier RS303, 245/45/16 all around on his stock wheels. BFG g-force tires are junk from what I've heard. The A032Rs aren't that great for dry or wet. If you can find a shop that sells Toyo Proxes R1s, those are considered excellent R-compound tires that last a lot longer. You only trade off little it of grip, but the tread life is better than others. This is what I've heard from other email groups and others. Goodyear GS-CS's are also a good tire. Bimmerworld uses them on their ITS 325is.

To find out about the SSR, go to tirerack.com. You can enter the 88 M5 and their system finds all the wheels that fit.

There are more 15" and 17" tires available than 16". Formula Atlantics and other small sedans use 15" wheels, while E36+ M3s and other larger cars use 17" wheels.
