Slightly off topic... BMW Films (archive)

There is an article in Autoweek this week about bmwfilms.com. They mention the car used in the film 'Star' as being a 530i. Watching the movie, this car is clearly an E39 M5. The overhead shot of the shifter shows a 6 speed tranny with the ///M logo, the shot of the rear before he shoots off the line shows ///M5 badging, etc. On BMW's website they talk about the 'machine' featured in the movie as being a 530i. What's up with that? I don't know why, but this is bugging me for some reason...
