Thanks for all the comments and for playing along with my game of not telling all that I ve done so as to get your unbiased thoughts.

1) My plenum to valve cover hose was starting to fail. I ve fixed that.
2) I had the valves adjusted
3) I checked for other air leaks with by using the carb cleaner (or starter fluid) areosol can trick. I don't have alot of faith in this method, but in combination with the visual inspection I have come up with nothing.
4) I replaced my "cold start" coolant temp sensor with a known good one. I noticed that the electrical plug was damaged and have fixed that to the best of my ability.

RESULTS: none. The only thing that seemed to change the problem was the coolant temp sensor, but it is hard to explain how it changed but didn't get rid of the problem. My mechanic looked at the whole situation and couldn't find any obvious solutions, but I don't think he read the codes (would this help here??). He sugested I unplug my o2 sensor and see if this helps...for some reason I keep forgetting to do this.

Running Rich: I say this, mainly because I don't know what I am talking about. But before the car is warm, the exhaust smells like unburned gas. This seems to go away when warm.
