I know what it does but... If the marks to line up the cams are on the cams and not the gears how is one to set up the cam timing with this location for timing marks when you have a Retarded gear to give more mid range from after market? No directions I bought it used?


The gears are indexed by the relationship between the holes in the cam gear and the sprocket teeth!!
Are you sure you have a EvoIII retard cam gear.
This gear was developed for the E-30 M3, S14B25 motor and adopted to the S38B35 by Dinan and other. The Cam gear can be ordered new for less than $100. The repair manual will provide instructions for gear replacement.
