You set the cams up as normal (index marks) and then shift the exhaust cam 2-3 degrees before sliding the new gear and chain on. Best to index the cams to confirm correct orientation of the cams to TDC and then measure the degree of valve retard.

I know what it does but... If the marks to line up the cams are on the cams and not the gears how is one to set up the cam timing with this location for timing marks when you have a Retarded gear to give more mid range from after market? No directions I bought it used?
