Gary:

If the vibration is speed-dependent there is little to worry about. An entire new DS including new center bearing and new pilot bearing can be had for less than $400. Flex-disk extra, but it is not too expensive ($50?). Ireland Engineering, Driveline Services, etc., sell them.

This is a good time to get all the other stuff in there - mounts, shifter linkage parts, flex-disk, tranny seals (leaking oil kills mounts), straighten any bent hangers, align the exhaust, etc., etc. - particularly if you do your own work.

If you'd like some E30 pictures, etc., of all this work, check out my WWW page at http://www.neilwerke.com. Good luck!

As I was driving down the highway enjoying the sights my ever faithful e28 m5 began emitting a vibration from the transmission that was most tragic. The vibration was so bad I couldn't even hold the gear shift. I slowed down to 60 m.p.h. and it went away. Every time I accelerate over 60 m.p.h. it comes back. Anybody have a clue?
