sounds like either your crank hub nut has come loose and backed out allowing the key to fall out of the keyway. or they keyway may be damaged on your crankshaft. either way, DO NOT even start your motor without finding out. you really don't want to have to replace your crankshaft if you can help it. i had this happen on a bavaria i used to own - i was lucky and was able to fix it with a new nut and key. you should look into getting the frank fahey crank hub for your M5. this is one of the know weak spots on the S38 motor. good luck - jeff h


None of the belts on my E28 M5 are turning. The engine will start and run like a champ, but none of the belts are turning. What Connects the crankshaft to the primary pulley?
Is this a difficult fix.,
