Provided you don't have a hang-up about buying cars only from people you like, I would encourage you, if you're in the market, to take a look at this car. It is rare in color, pristine in external condition, obviously loved by its owner (backing out of a sale) and probably excellent mechanically. It is the nicest non-stock E28 M5 I have ever seen.

For the right price, it would be foolish to let a car like this go because of some irritation over the owner's previous conduct with someone else. By all means take it in writing and whatever else, but don't lose an opportunity.

You are right! I am not him. But that doesn't stop me from warning other people. Better they hear it from more then just Mike. If it were me, I would have been really pissed if I took a day off of work, took the train to Va., and drove to meet you, just to have you back out of the deal! In this day in age with cell phones and everything else, you have no excuse for not calling ahead of time to tell him you changed your mind. My only point is buyer beware.

Since I don't know who you are or have ever had any dealings with you, shut the F##K UP.
As to backing out of "deals" at the last minute, I have only ever declined one sale. No Deposits, I refunded him his pre-purchase money and I drove further than he did to discover I wasn't willing to sell the car. And You are not him.
