Thanks Mike, My intentions were honest When we agreed on a price and I should have called. However, I arrived in DC at 4am and slept till 9:30am and assumed you were on the road.....
In my defense, I hadn't driven the car much at the time as my wife was the primary driver. We were expecting the birth of our first child. Plus, Micheal pursued the purchase of the car for a long time after my original posting.
None of this matters in the long run though as I didn't sell him the car, at the time. He has since found a car that he is happy with and I am having another child and the issue of selling the M5 arises again. If someone wishs to purchase the car for my asking price and is willing to come pick it up then I am willing to sell it. It is a wonderful, rare, car and it is hard to part with.

Rgrds,
David

guys...i'm not looking to start a war....i just felt the need to warn other people out there who may be interested in the car about a possible issue...yes, dave should have called me on my cell phone to let me know of a problem.
yes, dave did drive much further than i did to meet me.
buyer beware....that was my intent for the original post...
dave does have a nice (rare) car, some one will be happy w/ it...when he really decides to sell it.

A warning drawing attention to the wording in the post and a seller's history is good. I just sensed that the tone of the posts was drawing attention away from the fact that there was a car worth having out there. Hence my post.

I've known David for a while and he helped me in the intial stages of my own E34 M5 top-end rebuild. I'm glad Mike and other enthusiast friends of your's found nice cars as they are getting scarce (and expensive).

I'm just putting the warning out there so that it doesn't happen to anyone else. It could easily happen again, since he said he is "considering" selling the car. I just hope that if I were looking at a car, someone would warn me about the seller if there was a reason for concern. The bright side was that Mike found a better M5 then dave's, as did another friend of mine. Both of them bought Concours condition M5's.
