According to BMW Technical Reference Information
Bulletin 37 01 87 (2071), April 1987, the rear ride heights are:

521 + 10 mm for M5
565 + 10 mm for M6
(add 14 mm for TRX tires, instead of 10 mm)

This height is measured by a line formed by the bottom lip of the factory wheel thru the center of the wheel to the lip of the wheel well opening.

I recently filled the reservoir for the self leveling system with the recommended Pentosin CHF 7.1 hydrallic mineral oil. The next morning the rear end of the car raised several inches and has remained there since. Does anyone have a working knowledge of the SL system. It appears that it is controlled by a switch of some sort located on or near the rear sway bar. Is there a way to manually overide the system? Will unplugging the pump return it to a normal ride height? Thanks in advance.
