Michael,

The guys are right.

If it happens again, pull over and shut the engine off. Without depressing the gas pedal, pop the hood. Pull on the throttle linkage where the two cables attach and then let the throttle snap shut.

You will see where the outer throttle cable has backed out of the plastic nut and is hanging up.

The outer cable is supposed to be captured @ the nut but has come loose, as many of them do.

Some safety wire and it's an easy and permanent fix.
