Go ahead and replace the tail light gaskets. I know you checked them, but I'll bet they are your problem anyway. Cheap and easy.You can get something called "Wurth A/C and Heating System Treatment" for the moldy smell. It is a spray you put into the A/C system. Remember, your car's A/C system is independent of the vent/heating system. Try www.carcareonline.com.
