The Bentley E28 manual covers a lot of non-drivetrain related parts of this car. You can get a factory repair manual for the M6, which will cover the engine and transmission. Try www.schiffeuropean.com.

The S14 motor in the M3 is pretty much 2/3 of the S38. I'm not sure exactly how many parts are common, though.
