Matt:

One more thing, teh compression ratio being 14.7xCR psi is fine, but don't forget to add another 14.7 for atmospheric pressure, which is the pressure of the air the engine receives before it further compresses it! So, it should be (CR+1)x14.7.

Your's is the second car I've heard of near 140 psi with very uniform compression. I suspect this is due to the closed throttle bodies as it is unlikely that the compression deteriorated so uniformly. Would you make sure the throttles are open and repeat the test and let me know, please?

Thanks!

145 145 150 150 145 145

or somethign like that. They were all 145 or 150.

Motor has 106k miles.

AFAIK, this sucks :)

Neil seemed to say something to the effect of CR should be about 14.7*CR - on my car that'd be 14.7*9.8 (the US S38B35 was 9.8:1 stock, right ?)

which gives 144 psi

Which means my motor is doing fine. HOwever, everyone expected it to be around 160-170psi.

Given that the motor isn't making as much power as it should be.. im inclined to belevie my compression is low across the board, and hte motor is just tired :(
