It appears to actually be 11/16", NOT metric. 18mm does not fit as well as 11/16. I made one out of a standard tall 11/16" socket that I bought at Lowes, and glued in the rubber insert from a 5/8" sparkplug socket. Use a 6" extension and a torque wrench, 17 ftlbs. OEM gap is .027", but use .032", supposedly helps smooth idle a little.
I was attempting to do a compression check on the engine yesterday of my M5 and when I attempted to take out the spark plugs I was unable to do so. I could not figure out what size the plugs were. They don't appear to be 13/16, nor are they 5/8. Are they a metric size by any chance? Possibly 16mm? I understand the Bosch replacement plug is an X5DC, can someone advise the proper gap? I have not obtained any tech manuals yet, so I have no reference to check. Thanks in advance.
