Thanks everyone for suggestions. On the coil thing, I have had a few others say the same. Cap, rotor, wires plugs seem fine (rel. new). I had the thing scoped for CO, and they remarked that it was taking alot of voltage to generate a spark, like 30kV. But the emmisions showed very low HC, so they siad that meant I was getting a good burn. Plugs look good to me. SO I wonder why it takes so much to spark it, maybe bad spray pattern from injectors... my question is if it takes so much to spark it, would coil be bad? Or maybe coil has trouble generating that voltage? ANd of course the big question, why is so much V needed...
Well I know is not the same (and I know)but I was having similar problems with my tii and it turned out to be a bad coil. It worked it just did not put out enough power most of the time. Something like 8k, sometimes it felt like a gas mix problem, other like a timing problem. It may be worth a shot before you go buying ecu to check ignition.
Just a thought
As usual if anyone finds any discrepancies, please correct me
