Assuming your US spec M5's serial number is 2875001 your car is number 1001 out of 1370.

Cheers

Gents,

My E28 M5 had a date code of 10/1987 and the last 3 digits are (LSB's) are WBS...XXXX001. I'm not sure how BMW serialize these cars. What digits in the VIN # indicate the serial number of the car? I'm just currious whether I have the very first E28 M5 imported in the US.

Thanks

I believe you have the 1001 car and not the first M5. US M5 arrived at the brginning of 1987.
