That is too high - typical cold idle is 1100-1200 for 1-2 minutes. Maybe an ICV issue, don't have any other bright ideas...


My '88 M5's idle is about 2,000RPM when I start it up in the morning. Once the temp begins to move up the idle goes down to 750-800. It seems hard on the engine to idle so fast when it's stone cold and not fully oiled. Is the idle adjustable? I can't see anything that looks like an adjustment around the linkage.
