Don't know about red label, but a bunch of the E34 (same tranny) folk report clashes with Redline MTL. ATF, as recommended in the owner's manual, seems to work fine. Switch to ATF and see if that fixes it.

Has anyone had the gear clashing problem when using a sythetic oil in the red lable Getrag Trans?
