I'm / was in the process of purchasing a 3.5L (205 HP, 225 LB-ft) engine for transplanting in E9 2800 cs, until I came across EURO 3.5L engine (218 HP 225 LB-ft), now M5 engine (286 HP :-) and a NEW monkey wrench...)
What's the difference between M5 engine and U.S. / EURO 3.5L engine???
Do they use the same block, but different head???
Are M5 engine mounts (position) same as 3.5L???
Can I use CARBURETORS with M5 engine (easier conversion, since I'm doing the conversion).
Thanks
Yeros, first The 1988 and up U.S.3.5l is 208hp the euro is 218 hp. 1985 till 1987 is 182 hp. 3.5l. for U.S. market
Next engine mounts are different.
The 286 hp is a double overhead cam 24valves engine. Possible same block as Euro 218 hp. Change to carb set up out of the question. It is set up with ECU for injection and runs well. Anything is possible, but the work involed is a nightmare both mentally and cash wise.
