BTW, I have a Ground Control coil-over suspension on my M6. We had a run-around getting the rear ride-height sorted out, but they made everything right.
The difference is the rate. All US 535i and 535is came with the same springs. The M5 has the same front springs, same RATE rear springs like you noted.
But there is an M-Technic package available for all E24/E28s. The M-Technic springs were not standard equipment on US 535is's like some have thought. Nor were they standard on US M5s. The M-Technic springs do have a higher rate and lower the front and rear just enough.
For street and even driver school use, everyone I've talked to LOVES their M-Technic springs. I just want something upgradeable in the future, that's all. I'm not going to waste time on springs I know I'll replace later. For $400 I'm getting all 4 corners converted to Ground Control coil-overs.

And just what is the difference between "regular" 535is springs and Euro M5 springs? Since the spring rates for the 535i and US spec. SLS equipped M5 are the same, I'm guessing it's the free length.
