Euro 535i: Bilstein/std. ride height suspension
Rear shock: 33 52 1 127 527
Rear spring: 33 53 1 128 708
Euro M5: Bilstien/std. ride height suspension
Rear shock up to 2/86: 33 52 1 127 923
Rear shock 3/86-10/86: 33 52 2 225 605
Rear shock 11/86 on: 33 52 2 225 898 (Boge)
Rear spring up to 2/86: 33 53 1 125 315
Rear spring 2/86 on: 33 53 1 130 723
M-tech sports suspension; 535i and others, lower ride height/Bilstein (not used on M5's):
Rear shock: 33 52 2 225 666
Rear spring: 33 53 2 225 654
What we supply in our conversion kits is a Bilstein HD rear shock with the M5 2/86 on rear spring and the appropriate mounting accessories, which includes a special lower spring perch for the M5 spring. If I remember correctly the diameter of the M5 rear springs tapers and requires a different perch and spring pad than the 535i. We also recommend changing the front inserts to Bilstein HD's at the same time, if you have not done so already.
Hope this clears things up,

And just what is the difference between "regular" 535is springs and Euro M5 springs? Since the spring rates for the 535i and US spec. SLS equipped M5 are the same, I'm guessing it's the free length.
If you or others wish to remove the self-levelling suspension - we do offer a complete kit to install NOT standard 535i stuff - but REAL Euro M5 springs, mounts, and Bilstein struts. Kits are about $400.00 and include ALL parts required to install factory BMW M5 Euro springs. We've found this to be MUCH better than just tossing 535i stuff back there.
....the M5 as BMW intended! ;-)
