M5 tachometer in my M535i reading slow.... (archive)

Hello all,
Just put a new M5 tach in my M535i. It is reading about 300 rpm slow at idle and around 500 slow at 6K rpm. Don't understand this at all. A 6 banger is a 6 banger as far as ignition spark. Is there an adjustment on the tach?
