In most cases there were minimal gains in horsepower. I definetly noticed better throttle response, more torque accross the rev range and a little bit of extra pull at high RPM, but 50 hp no way.
FYI, my engine was rebuilt and it was not until we put in the Schrick 282 cam and changed to a Tri-FLow exhaust with test pipes that I felt like I gained 30-40 hp.
If you are getting 300 hp, your engine is an exception to the rule. I have had my engine on a chasis dyno (not very accurate) and at most I am probably making 280 hp with the Schrick and Dinan gear. I have easily pulled away from other M5's who have the Jim C. chip or the Dinan setup at the track! If they are making their claimed 300+ hp then I am making way more, not likely!!
It could also be that some of the M5 engines that have a lot of miles on them and are getting tired are bigger benificiaries of the Dinan and Jim C. chip so that you may be getting large hp boosts but your are not starting with 256 stock hp possibly less.
Just my two cents worth.

Try Dinan in combination with their chip. Together they increase hp and torque to near 300 (both) in U.S. car, while at the same time giving you more low end grunt. I have them on my M6 and certainly feel the difference.
