You are probably right,my car was bought in 1984 but i couldve been manufactured in 78
actually 3.210 liter engined Motorsport built car offered the '78 M533i.

To give proper credit to the correct author, "BMW M-Series and Performance Specials" was written by Jonathan Cohen. In his review he mentions only 1 known example in the U.S. at the time of publication.
