Because cold air is more dense thus has more oxygen to burn = more powerful combustion. A rough guide is 4C drop = 1hp gain in reality its probably a bit more because of down scream effects.Mark C

I live in Chicago and notice that during the winter my car is abnormally torquey when temperature is below freezing. Right now it is 15 degrees F and the car is a rocket. Why is this?
