This is a good summary, but I have one correction regarding the class action suit claiming bmw deflated prices by importing more than the 500 advertised. ALL original purchasers of '88 M5s were in the class and offered $4,000 rebates toward certain new BMW models or the option of selling the transferrable rebate certificates. The suit was filed in Illinois. I suspect BMW settled rather than get bad publicity.
