I had the same thing but have solved it through rational means. I changed the tranny fluid with Sytentic ATF but that only helped sligly (the shifting felt better though) but the big improvment came with a r+r of that stuff with Regular Dextron III atf. I had to do the clutch again (don't ask why) and after updating all of the realese mech. with new stuff, the sound is GONE. Email me with other questions or on this fourm, i'm sure this problem is wide spread.

I have a whine when I'm out of gear with the clutch out. When I push the clutch in the whine disappears. It shifts easy and runs great. Thoughts welcome. I own an '88M6, but I think the trannys are the same. TIA
