I have a whine when I'm out of gear with the clutch out. When I push the clutch in the whine disappears. It shifts easy and runs great. Thoughts welcome. I own an '88M6, but I think the trannys are the same. TIA

Had the same whine after the tranny leaked almost all it's fluid during a long drive. My mechanic told me it's just the input shaft bearing, just keep driving it until it blows up! 5 years and 237,000+ miles later the whine is still there and tranny is still fine! Switching to thicker oil did reduce the whine. I rather like it....the cars sound like it's got geardrive!
