Did it yesterday. Basic steps:

-Get BMW fuel line about 6ft
-Put car on ramps if you want to, not necessary but if you're tall it's easier on your back
-release pressure from fuel lines by pulling FP relay and running the starter. Remove gas filler cap.
-Remove intake boot, and breather hoses from plenum. remove screws that hold coolant tank, makes it easier if you can move this around.
-remove plenum by removing 12 acorn nuts on intake horns - use a magnet so you don't drop nuts or washers.
-Cut oil dipstick breather hose - you can't pull this off, its on barbed fittings on each end. Mine wasn't long enough to allow me to turn plenum. lift plenum out.
-look under brake boster by frame rails in front of driver, you can see the other end of fuel lines/hoseclamps.
-have some rags handy to catch dripping fuel. remove lines from end of fuel rail. They will likely be stuck to the metal, so may take some cutting or prying. Come off easy once unstuck.
-Make sure you know which line goes to which line!
-Undo other end of lines down on frame. unthread the lines from varios clips and from behind the firewall-mounted heater valve.
-Pull lines off, cut equal lengths of new lines. Remove the plastic spiral protector from old lines, put it on new ones.
-Get hose clamps good and tight. rethread lines and tighten to fuel rail. At this point, I tested connections for leaks by jumping pins 30 and 87 on fuel pump relay socket. This turns FP on and pressurizes system, don't need key in ignition. CHeck for leaks, tighten clamps if necessary.
-reinstall plenum etc. Use a length of the fuel line to replace oil breather hose.

not too tough, about a 5 on the PITA scale.

Has anyone on this board replaced the fuel lines that run to the injector rail??? if so where is the other end of these two soft lines and is there a trick to make it easy?
Thanx,
chris
