It's a hydraulic system consisting of the control unit in the dash, two long hoses and two sort of slave cylinders that attach to the back of each low beam light (1 for each that is). As you turn the knob, it forces fluid through the hoses and into the "slave" cylinders behind the low beams. When the little push rod in the cylinder extends it aims the lens upward slightly.

I understand the idea of a headlight aiming system, but not the implementation of it. Does anyone know any details on this system?
