Those aftermarket bumpers are probably made by a company called "Unicar" in Italy. I have some old 2002 bumper parts made by them and they actually look Ok, but I couldn't say how their E28 stuff looks. Most of the aftermarket chrome stuff I have seen is kind of thin around the corners and chips and peels easily. FYI, you can get a whole OEM euro bumper set up for around $1200 with the front valence and the euro lights. If you need to get those separately to complete the kit, figure on another $200= for the valence and around $120 for the lights. You can modify your existing US type valence to accept the euro signals, but the profile of the Euro valence is different from the US one so it will still appear slightly different from a true Euro car. Anyway if you have to pay another $300 or so on top of the bumpers alone at $650 or so to make it work, you're not saving much over the OE stuff.

take a look in BMW Car magazine or any other mag from the UK, you'll find advertisers that sell Euro bumper parts. If you look at the info about the source in most cases you'll see (I) next to the bumper components. This means they are from Italy not from Germany. I don't knowthe quality of the Italian parts but that may be why they don't want to let on about the source. When I bought my bumpers they were sourced from a BMW dealership in Germany and the cost was about $800.
