If you are experiencing leak problems you might also want to replace the rear window gasket and lock stips. I had a leak problem, so I replaced my windshield, gasket, and lock strips. And also my rear window gasket and lock strips. On my car the aluminum corner bits and lower aluminum lock strips had faded, so I replaced them as well. The whole job cost about $500.
They had my car overnight and it took them a lot of time. When I picked the car up the guy was bitching about the job. I think it took him about 8 hours, the time he could have done 3 windshields had they not been e28's. The manager told me that the next time an e28 came in, they would charge a lot more for labor.
Good luck,
