so that the low compression does not apply for the US anyway. Some were brought over and cats put on etc, but there was NOT a US spec Cat equiped M535i. No idea about other countries having US spec motors supplied, I cant imagine why though.

In jan of 1985, BMW started to offer a worldwide ('cept US) green engine with the lower compresion and a cat. In the 735 it produced 185 Hp vs the 182 we are familiar with for the US engine. The green motor was supplied to those who needed the tax break for driving a 'clean' car as well as any mandated areas.
