The ltw flywheel is not so much for gains but for drivability - there is no substitute for the lightened flywheel for someone who double clutches (which many of us with tired 280 gearboxes need to do). Every time i drive i fall in love wit hthe new flywheel all over again. It is how all cars should come, stock.

I beleive im running an 11 lb flywheel bought from bavauto or bmpd. It is fantastic.

The aluminum flywheel is expensive for the gains yielded. Also, sub 10lb aluminum flywheels ususally allow lots more throwout bearing and pilot bearing noise to be heard. For a street driven car, try a lightened stock flywheel. Ireland engineering charges $150 to lighten most BMW flywheels. You will get about %50 of the weight savings of the AL flywheel for 1/4 the price.

I am getting ready to do a clutch job.. and read some suggestions about a lightened flywheel. Any suggestions on this... good bad.. and places to purchase? Bav auto wants 699.00 for one.. not sure the gain is worth the price.

Thanks,

Josh
