The Getrag 280 tranny is longer than the 260 or 265. This means that a 535i DS will be too long for an M5.

Driveline Services of Portland did my 535, my M5, and my brother's M5 DS. Great work and customer service. Cost is around $380 + core, refunded when you return the old one. Greasable U-joints and lifetime warantee. You do need to buy your own guibo, though.
