since sunshine4 has corrected this source, i decided to some more research. i started to plug in numbers into my etk parts cd since it is able to select car model by entering vin numbers. well my results are these
first us m5 built is 2791001. this batch continued until 2792000(which makes for the correcting of sunshine4 and puts this source as incorrect. the other batch started at 2875001 and ended at 2875370. which puts a total production at 1370. this is re-confirm with the m registry number of 1370.

this is the source for the vin #'s.
Stan Simm reported BMW told him this was the VIN range for North American M5s--
2791001-2791865 and 2875001-2875370
that would be 1235 units, 98 of which went to Canada.

if i follow this,
armando has the earliest one, number 32.

and tim( i believe he is selling it now) has the 4th to last one built.
