my m5 currently doesnt have the delay. so it turns on when a door is open and turns off when all doors are closed. i remember on my 87 528e, there was delay. but it would only work when the front door would open and close. this was in the switch. instead of having only one prong, the delay switch had 2 prongs. i just havent had time to look at mine.

I assume there is a unit that's supposed to delay/dim the interior lights. Is it near the steering column on the firewall as I heard someone say for E24s, if not where? I assume if mine doesn't do this (lights don't turn on when door handle lifted, don't stay on/fade when door shut) that I need an "interior light control module" as listed on alloembmwparts for $72??
