Could someone check and let me know if the set of Bilsteins for $99 on ebay fit my car? I don't have a way of checking the Bilstein part numbers the guy listed. At the price, they might be worth trying if they will fit.

Thanks,

Yes, they will fit. Those are the correct part numbers for all E28 and 1983+ E24 cars. BUT do you have the self-levelling rear suspension? If so, you need to change out the rear springs and upper perches to 535i rear springs and upper perches. Or you can use your original M5 rear springs and a bigger lower perch to fit them. I have a pair I can sell you for $20 plus shipping, I just have to dig them up.

Also, it does not look like the rears come with the lower perch. The rear Sports have a separate perch and a snap ring that can sit in any of 5 slots (HDs have 3 slots). Those slots will adjust the ride height. If the rear shocks in that auction do not come with lower perches, you will need to contact Bilstein to order them. I paid $20 for a pair.

I have Bilstein HDs on my M5. I had the stock M5 springs that were made for the load-levelling rear end. These springs are too short to run without load-levelling shocks ($$ cha-CHING), so I ordered the 535i spring perches and got a used pair of 535i rear springs and upper perches. They were STILL too short and too soft. The rear would squat badly under acceleration and if anyone was in the back seat. I just installed Ground Control springs (450F, 300R) and perches all around to lower the front and raise/stiffen the rear. Now it's right.
