How and where did you locate the sender? Did you have to resort to a drain-plug location?

Yep - "here's a pic of it

Can the E28 housing be tapped or would an E34 M5 housing be an alternative (albeit expensive)?

Choose not to do it this way - my installation is clean and it was easy.

BTW - how do you take the fan grill off?
