Seat motors from memory seats have Hall Effect sensors in them that tell the motor 'where' it is. It is not possible to retrofit this functionality via external slap-on modules such as it is with remote door locking.

You could swap in the entire memory seat from another car though w/o too much trouble.

This German M5 has seat possition memory. If you look closely at the link below, you'll see an additional bank of buttons below the drivers seat adjusters.
Does anyone know if this is an aftermarket add on? Does anyone know anything about this at all?
