One of the batteries on my SI board came loose. This was causing the temperature gauge to jump around and give false readings. When I attempted to replace the battery, the solder tab came completely off of the board and I removed that battery completely. The temperature gauge is working fine now.

My question is this: Do we really need the batteries on the SI Board? Since we all follow our own maintenance intervals anyway, the SI system is pretty useless. I am just worried that this may affect other systems. The fact that the loose connection on the battery tab was causing problems with the temperature gauge indicates that other circuits may be tied into the SI system.

What do you think?
