Tachomoter flicks up to 700RPM when shut off (archive)

1. My E28 M5's tachometer needle jumps instantaneously up to about 700RPM for a second right after shutting off the engine.
2. My OBD's backlighting part of the display goes dim when I press the brake pedal.

I was told that it was caused by a bad ground at one of 5 places(trunk, back seat, driver's footwell, engine compartment, engine, battery). All were removed ,cleaned, no difference. *I've been recently told that it may be a bad OBD. Has anyone seen these problems and found that it was the OBD?

Please advise.
Thanks.
